Nick and Angela Johnson
Nick is our senior pastor at The Lane and has been with us since 2007 when he moved to Liverpool from Amersham with his wife Ange and their three children, Jack, Kate and Harry. Nick is originally from from Hartlepool in County Durham and Ange hails from Warrington.
Having met in their early 20's in London, they have lived and worked in a variety of places from Solihull to Newcastle, as youth and schools workers. Nick trained for ministry at London School of Theology before coming here. Ange currently works as a medical secretary at a local GP surgery. Nick and Ange’s vision for the Lane is to see a church that is alive in the Spirit, connected
to our community and growing, spiritually and numerically.
The Johnson family love supporting Newcastle United, and a trip up north to watch them play isn’t complete without Hartlepool fish and chips (Nick’s favourite). A little know fact about Nick is that he once rollerbladed across Warsaw (ask him about it sometime…) but these days, he prefers to travel by motorbike.
Ange’s interests include cake, sunshine and holidays (altogether is even better). Her favourite meal out would be Mexican, and her favourite film night in would feature any chick flick (her words!).
Who we are
We're a lively, community church based in Garston in South Liverpool.
We believe in enjoying God and life together. Find out more about our team here...
Rob and Katy McAvoy
Rob is our Youth Pastor and Katy, his wife, leads our children’s work. Rob and Katy moved to Liverpool to take up their roles in 2013, along with their three girls Evalyn, Lylian, Nancy, and Wispa the dog. Before coming to join us, Katy and Rob worked with children and young people in South Wales for eight years.
Rob is passionate about helping young people realise what they were created for, and supporting and releasing them to live this out. Alongside this, Katy’s passion is to see the children and families of Garston changed by Jesus.
When he’s relaxing, Rob enjoys a good mix of cricket, curry, football, carvery, golf and pizza…it’s all about balance! He’s also a big fan of BBC 1’s Bargain Hunt.
Katy loves pottering in her garden and being creative, especially sewing bespoke vintage craft. Her favourite thing about God’s kingdom is knowing that she is loved by God, no matter what.
They recently fulfilled their dream of actually appearing on Bargain Hunt! So cool!
Helen is our Church administrator and provides support to our team, which means her talents are wide and varied! She works at the Church office part-time.
If she had to pick a favourite colour, it would be purple, a favourite book it would be Me Before You and a favourite film it would be 'The Shawshank Redemption'. Her favourite place to holiday is The Lakes.
